Abstract:
This article describes the Apostolic Signatura which is the supreme tribunal of the Roman Catholic Church. The article of approximately 2,800 words is to appear in the DICTIONARY OF CANON LAW (Liturgical Press 2007, J. Conn & J. Provost, eds.). The brief article offers a general description of the Apostolic Signatura, traces its historical development over the many centuries, and discusses its present structure, competence and procedural norms.
