Abstract

This paper focuses on the knowledge advancements and the issues that are still being investigated within the theme of cultural planning in local development policies. For this purpose, the logic path of the contribution will be characterized by the following elements: adopted by small and middle towns, in Italy and Europe. The goal is, in facts, to individuate the approaches, the methods and the techniques used more and more often by towns and cities to build development patterns based on the strategic mobilization of their own cultural resources, especially with regards to some of the themes today most debated by scholars and policy-makers. In particular we consider the relation between the cultural policy and the strategic plan for urban governance, creativity, cultural mapping and the evaluation in cultural field. 1. Contextualizing the theme within the theory about cities in the global economy; 2. Indentifying small and middle towns and their features; 3. Developing the theme of creativity and creative cities; 4. Individuating some key-themes of cultural planning
