Abstract
This paper addresses some fundamental issues surrounding Pakistan’s contemporary competition law regime put in place by the enactment of the Competition Act, 2010. The paper comprises three parts and a conclusion. The first describes the globalization of competition laws - as has been the case with many areas of international economic governance - that has taken place recently all over the world. The second part traces the history of Pakistan’s competition laws, introduces the contemporary competition regime, and places it in the context of globalization. The third part identifies some of the major challenges confronting Pakistan’s nascent competition regime and makes recommendations to effectively tackle them over the coming years.
