Abstract
The issues of farmer suicides and loan waivers are a manifestation of the failures at both policy and execution level. This paper argues that these are symptom of failure of agricultural economics and examines the reasons for it. The paper further proposes a solution - a Smart Agriculture Management System (SAMS) and supporting mechanisms to make agricultural economics work for the farmer.
