Abstract

The North and Far-North regions of Cameroon are plagued with food insecurity as a result of adverse climatic conditions, poor soil fertility, Striga attacks and inadequate cropping systems and practices. Despite farmers’ individual efforts to deal with these challenges based on local and personal experience, the situation is far too complex and requires an external expertise grounded on sound agronomic knowledge. The present development project report addresses food insecurity and poverty alleviation by proposing agriculture technology package and research orientations which can yield direct positive impacts on crop production and poverty alleviation.
