Abstract

Wireless Sensor Network is collection of sensor nodes which consist of sensing device, small amount of storage device and antenna. Sensor node uses battery power for its sensing, momentary data storage and data transmission. In WSNs one of the issues is node’s battery life. WSN usually work in extreme conditions so it is not possible to change batteries of the node frequently. MAC protocol for WSNs which effectively manage shared medium such that it reduce power consumption by node for data transmission. The ZigBee standard is a part of the IEEE 802 set of wireless standard group. The main aim of designing the ZigBee standard is to provide wireless connectivity to vast number of applications in different domains. These include automation, monitoring and controlling the application set-up. Such types of appli-cations require small, reliable and low cost sensor nodes with long battery life with automatic or semiautomatic installation. The ZigBee standard satisfied the above requirement and offers high speed, low power, low cost communication standard for data transmission. In this paper we have proposed ZigBee based data frame structure for animal health monitoring for rural area of Gujarat.
