In this regard, qualitative research methodology was adopted, which included archival and historical research methods. Data was collected through the records available in India Office Records in London and Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU), Pakistan. In addition, publications pertaining to the research objective were also studied through various digital repositories. Findings revealed that Percy Hide faced numerous challenges, including objections from the orthodox religious bodies regarding the changes in the character of SMI that he was bringing in, but he successfully consolidated the institutional base of SMI as a modern Muslim educational institution of that time.
