Perceptions on the Utilization of the Instructional Materials in Academic English Courses of an International College in Thailand

Abstract

The study aimed to ascertain the perceptions of the college students in the instructional material used in their English class among second year students and its relationship to their academic performance. In evaluating an instructional material, content, instructional quality, technical quality, presentation and organization, accuracy and up-to-datedness of information, and assessment were examined. This descriptive research was concerned with the relationship between the perceptions of second year students towards the instructional material used as their main text when they are classified according to their gender, major and faculty and their performance. The study was necessitated due to the prevailing complaints regarding the main text used in their courses as is true in other colleges and universities.
