Abstract
The article deals with the analysis of modern information and communication technologies and cognitive processes. We considered the main factors influencing the cognitive processes: the hypertextuality of modern culture, the ever-increasing amount of information, the spread of electronic communication and the language transformations. We considered the possible transformation of cognitive processes under the influence of the development of modern technologies. In our opinion the widespread use of information and communication technology can have an impact on memory processes. Changes in the processes of memorization can be considered as a protective reaction of the organism in the conditions of a constant increase in the total amount of information that a modern person has to operate with. We made the conclusion, that the use of information and communication technologies leads to the development of the functions of the right hemisphere of the brain responsible for spatial-figurative thinking, which can contribute to the development of creativity. Defocused attention and mobility of thinking, generated by work in computer networks, can also become an impetus for creative activity.
