Abstract

High Sugar consumption is a serious burden on the South African health system; it is, therefore, critical to establishing a public health approach that deals with and regulates the sugar rampancy for an improved and prolonged quality of life that goes beyond embossing the sugar tax. Identifying the key stakeholders is vital to adequately analyse any aspects of sugar consumption as a public health issue in general. The key stakeholders in reducing high sugar consumption in South Africa come from multiple sectors such as Health Professions, Legislators, Policymakers, the Food and beverage industry, Regulators, Public representatives, the Media and publishing industry as well as the Economists and financial sector.
