Abstract

Genius is a concept which has still not been fully explored. Although genius has been linked to intelligence and at other times to madness, still this concept is open to interpretation. This research attempts to collate and explore the major researches and literature available for this concept. The importance of this research lies in the current educational scenario globally which aims at all children passing through the routine education which does not distinguish between students of higher capability and average capacity and treats all as a set of the equal, indistinguishable herd. The research identified that individuals with above average talents in multiple subjects are not widely acknowledged as a genius, with the exception of Leonardo da Vinci. Genius tends to be associated with individuals who have excelled in only one particular field.

Keywords: Genius, IQ, Intelligence
