Abstract
Fundamentals of the concept of development: it has its roots in man's first attempt to understand change. The generalized conception of political development as a series of stages of growth that inevitably evolves towards progress is but the modern form of the vision of change that has dominated Western thought for many centuries.
The interest of the eighteenth century for the advance of human progress arose from the study of the successive stages we went through with the name to access its position of eminence.
