Abstract

The improvised typhoon maker is an apparatus needed to stir fluids continuously which are made up of economical materials. A vortex is a deformation of the free surface and the underlying flow were linked to each other. The purpose of this experiment is to capture a visually appealing and eye satisfying image of vortex which is comparable to a typhoon where we can demonstrate its formation and point out its strongest and weakest points, thus the students will gain knowledge about the signal number of a typhoon, and be able to familiarize the risks it bring. Results revealed that it can be used to demonstrate and discuss the formation of a typhoon, tornado and the like. It can help to discuss the parts of a typhoon, its strongest and weakest point and the corresponding signal number that can be helpful in understanding the risks it bring.
