Abstract

In University institutions around the world, students carry out projects as part of the requirements for completion of their degree programs. Lecturers normally propose a number of projects for students to choose from and students in turn will have a preference over the proposed projects. This results in a problem of student project allocation and management, particularly when dealing with a significant number of projects.

This project paper presents a web application that automates the allocation projects to students and act as a management system for the project life-cycle. The application demonstrated a number of benefits, notably that students had more choice, and supervisors appreciated the automated
service. The Student Project Allocation (SPA) Algorithm proposed by (Abraham et al, 2003, 2007)
has been adopted.
