An Engineered Dissemination toward Sustainability Achievements for Rural Coffee Farming and Production

Abstract
The dissemination of appropriate technology to rural communities of coffee farming and production is required systematized approach, due to traditional and conventional culture, limited knowledge and skills of rural people, inadequate community support, and lack of institutional intervention. However, the technology dissemination framework for rural communities of coffee farming and production, especially in developing countries, is lack of attention. The objective of this research is to propose an engineered dissemination framework toward sustainability achievement for coffee farming and production in the rural community at strategic, tactical and operations management levels. A case of engineered dissemination for sustainable coffee farming and production in a rural community of Temanggung regency, Central Java, Indonesia is discussed based on a quantitative case study. The framework is found to be a practical approach to strengthen the participative institutional organization, to improve economic, social and environmental values, to increase woman participation in management level, and to reach global markets and customers. This article highlights some of the essentials aspects of institutional and personal capacity buildings, technology development and implementation, certification, marketing development, and environmental management which are suitable for rural coffee farming and production.
