Measuring The U.S. Internet Sector: 2019

Abstract

IA presents new estimates on the size of the internet sector in the U.S. economy as of 2018, the most recent year data is available. The results show the internet sector contributed 10.1 percent of U.S. GDP and 4.0 percent of jobs (non-farm employment). IA estimates the internet sector supported another over 13.1 million indirect jobs and that the sector invested over $60 billion into the economy. The report also lays out a new methodology that IA will use to conduct these estimates on an annual basis going forward.
