El fomento de rutas turístico-literarias en el Caribe: el caso de Aracataca y la “Ruta Macondo” (The Promotion of Tourist Literary Routes in the Caribbean: The Case of Aracataca and the ‘Macondo Route’)

Spanish Abstract: La consolidación del turismo cultural en Colombia, y en particular del turismo literario, requiere el esfuerzo integral y articulado de instituciones públicas y empresas privadas en pro del desarrollo regional y local de comunidades que cuentan con expresiones, manifestaciones y bienes del patrimonio cultural nacional. Estas comunidades, de ser organizadas y administradas acorde a estándares técnicos, se constituyen en referentes de conservación de la identidad, de integración social y proyección de prácticas e innovaciones en emprendimiento cultural. Para estudiar la experiencia en turismo literario que oferta Aracataca (Colombia) —pueblo natal y referente cultural de la obra literaria del nobel Gabriel García Márquez—, se apeló a un análisis cualitativo de carácter descriptivo en el que, a partir del contraste de fuentes documentales y del trabajo de campo por medio de observaciones y diálogos no estructurados como turistas incógnitos, fue posible reconocer las fortalezas, los riesgos y las debilidades para la consolidación de la “Ruta Macondo”, para lo cual se emplearon como epicentro los atractivos y la experiencia turística de Aracataca en el último lustro.

English Abstract: The consolidation of cultural tourism in Colombia, and in particular literary tourism, requires an integral and articulated effort between public institutions and private companies in favor of regional and local development. The communities that have expressions, manifestations and assets of the national cultural heritage can be reference points for identity conservation, social integration and the projection of practices and innovations in cultural entrepreneurship if they are organized and managed in accordance with technical standards. In order to study the literary tourism experience offered y Aracataca (Colombia), hometown and cultural reference of the literary work of the Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez, a qualitative analysis of a descriptive nature was carried out. The contrast of documentary sources, field work done through observations and unstructured dialogues as incognito tourists, led to recognizing the strengths, risks and weaknesses of consolidating the “Macondo Route” by focusing primarily on the attractions and the tourist experience of Aracataca over the last five years.
