Abstract

The demand for higher value at lower price is increasing, and to survive, the apparel manufacturers need to improve their operations and reduce their lead time. The overall objective of the paper is to reduce the standard time following Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST). The data was collected for two styles over a period of three months. Based on the data collected, the standard time taken to produce a pant was determined using MOST. Based on the data, line efficiency and production capacity were calculated. This helped in identifying the bottlenecks in the production line. A comparison of the results of existing technique and MOST showed that there was reduction in the standard time of sewing section.
