Abstract

Artificial intelligence is making rapid strides and can fundamentally change life on our planet. It has the potential to revolutionize every aspect of daily life including work, medicine, economy, communication, and of course, the legal industry. The administration of law and justice in Nigeria has been predictable in the past decades and has been struggling to break through the jinx of backlog of cases, slow legal service delivery processes, limited access to justice particularly in rural areas, overburdened courts and insufficient legal resources, among other challenges. But the narrative is changing. In the legal profession, artificial intelligence is driving the force of digital revolution towards the administration of law and justice, and Nigeria stands at the precipice of a potential technological breakthrough. This article will appraise the future implications of artificial intelligence in Nigeria's legal system, its potential benefits and the challenges that lie ahead.
