Spanish Abstract: Comento aquí la introducción de 1831 que escribió Mary Shelley para su novela Frankenstein, or, the Modern Prometheus (1818), señalando algunos aspectos metaficcionales que introduce la autora, estableciendo una analogía entre ella misma y el científico experimental a la vez que equipara a su obra, la novela en sí, inauguradora del nuevo género de ficción científica, con el monstruo.

English Abstract: This paper comments the 1831 introduction written by Mary Shelley for her 1818 novel Frankenstein, or, The Modern Prometheus, pointing out some metafictional analogies introduced by the author between herself and the experimental scientists, as well as between the novel itself, the first of a new genre of science fiction, and the monster.
