This research presents the main methods of database fragmentation in distributed systems. First, the steps of the distributed database design are presented. Then the fragmentation rules and the fragmentation types is described followed by the presentation of a mixed fragmentation methodology for initial distributed database design based on a graphical algorithm. The research ends with presentation of some aspects of fragmentation methods.
