Abstract

Spanish Abstract: El rezo de los oficios divinos eran una de las obligaciones propias de clérigos, religiosos/as y beneficiados. Los canonistas de la temprana edad moderna se ocupará esta obligación, su dispensa, su excepción, así como de la restitución en el caso de beneficiados. Aunque en un principio fueron utilizados para atraer a los indios a la fe, hacia finales del siglo XVI fueron relegados a simples espectadores.

English Abstract: The prayer of divine offices was one of the proper obligations of clergy, religious and beneficiaries. Canonists of the early modern times dealt with this obligation, its dispensation, its exceptional cases, as well as restitution in the case of beneficiaries. Although they were originally used to attract the Indians to the faith, towards the end of the 16th century, the Indians were relegated to mere spectators.
