Abstract

Six new coordination polymers (CPs), [Cd(HL)(H2O)2]n (1), [Co(HL)(H2O)2]n (2), [Zn(HL)(H2O)2]n (3), [Ni(HL)(H2O)2]n (4), [Ni(HL)(H2O)2]n (5), and [Eu(L)(H2O)2]n (6), were constructed under solvothermal conditions with an unsymmetrical 4-(5-carboxypyridin-3-yl)phthalic acid (H3L). Structural analyses show that 1-5 have 1D chain structures and form the final 3D supramolecular structures through hydrogen bonds, in which 2 and 3 are isomorphisms. 6 is a 2D sql grid layer and forms a 3D supramolecular structure through hydrogen bonds. The solid-state luminescent properties of pure H3L ligand, 1, 3 and 6 were investigated carefully at room temperature. 1 exhibits high luminescence sensing for Fe3+, Cr2O72-, and CrO42- ions, and 6 exhibits excellent framework stability and strong luminescence. In addition, 4 and 5 display antiferromagnetic exchange phenomena.
