Abstract

One would think that due to the millions of dollars appropriated to the criminal justice system and law enforcement that our state and local governments would take the necessary precautions to properly train the officers, forensic scientists and other personnel who are vital to the criminal investigation and prosecution process.

Since the 1980s there have been numerous individuals who have been wrongfully convicted due to the lack of training and use of resources to prevent this from happening. From negligence to certain investigators not being certified to do their tasks, the forensics heavily used in Texas in order to convict criminals has turned around and convicted innocent people.
