Abstract

he promulgation of the new Article 2A on leasing represents the first major amendment to the scope of the Uniform Commercial Code ("UCC" or "Code") since the publication of the first official text in 1952. All prior amendments to the Code, in 1958, 1962, 1966, 1972, and 1978, have been changes to existing articles of the Code leaving intact the basic scope and coverage of the Code. With the promulgation of Article 2A, however, a relatively new and important type of commercial transaction, the personal property leasing transaction, which has never before been subject to any comprehensive statutory treatment, uniform or otherwise, is being brought within the scope of Code.
