Abstract

The Preface of the Annual Review of United Nations Affairs (ARUNA) 2018/2019, written by the editors, briefly discusses UN achievements and priorities in 20281/2019, peace and security challenges, UN reform and the Sustainable Development Goals, and new initiatives and landmark events. The six volumes contain succinct summaries of the principal developments during 2018/2019 in the UN's major organs: the General Assembly (by John Mathiason), the Security Council (by Jacques Fomerand), ECOSOC (by Lorraine Turner Ruffing), the International Court of Justice (by Alexander K.A. Greenawalt), and the UN Secretariat (by Kahlil Hamdani). These commentaries are followed by the principal documents issued by each of these organs during the UN year.
