Abstract
The paper deals with four named actual or possible photographers in the Sherlock Holmes Canon, including Holmes himself. It also deals with numerous photographs in the Canon by unnamed photographers, concentrating on those photographs that Holmes possesses and shows to another person or persons. An appendix to the paper deals with photography in some contemporaneous fiction other than Conan Doyle's.
Also included are a few illustrations of scenes in the Canon depicting or possibly depicting photographs.
