Abstract

The present study attempted to explore the effect of morphological awareness on reading comprehension in social. Larger parts of English words have been made through combinations of morphological components, for example, prefixes and suffixes with base words.

Morphological awareness of words can affect proficiency at lexical level, for example, word reading, vocabulary and levels beyond word level, for example, reading comprehension.

The paper determined that past studies affirm the positive relationship between awareness in derivational morphology and reading comprehension, the results suggests the need for further research to investigate other contributing factors of morphological awareness affected on reading comprehension.
