Teacher’s Variables and Learning Outcome of Students With Physical Impairment in Selected Secondary Schools in Obudu Local Government Area of Cross River State

Abstract

This study investigated teachers variables and learning outcome of students with physical and health impairment in selected secondary schools Obudu Local government Area of Cross River state. To give the research a focus, four (4) research questions were formulated and transformed into four (4) will hypotheses based on four (4) independent variables which include, Teachers’ qualification, Teachers’ teaching experience, Teachers’ worked, and Teachers’ attitude. For effective data collection for testing each of the hypothesis, a 16-item research instruction called: Teacher variables and learning outcome of students with physical and health impairment questionnaire (TVLOSPHIQ) was developed and validated by the project supervisor. This was the administered to 240 respondent from 55 public secondary school in the study area of the study, using the cluster and simple random sampling techniques. The researcher also made used of the survey design method. Analysis of the data and test of the hypotheses were done using Pearson Product Moment Correlation Analysis and one-way Analysis of Variable (ANOVA) Statistics. The results showed that all the in depend variables that is, Teachers’ qualification, teacher’s teaching experience, Teachers’ workload, and Teachers’ attitude had significant influence on the learning outcome of students with physical and health impairment in school. Discussion was made on the basis of these statistical findings as they relate to learning outcome of students with physical and health impairment in the study area. Based on these findings, it was recommended among other that since Teacher’s variables significantly relate with learning outcome of students in school, Government should employ the services off qualified teachers with good teaching experience and attitude and also reduce their workload to motivate and improve the learning outcome of students with physical and health impairment inn secondary school.
