Abstract
In the modern era, the most important technology of communication regardless of time and location is satellite communication. To utilize this technology at its maximum efficiency antennas are required. The antennas are set in the direction where there is maximum signal strength and is called the reference point. Due to disturbances like wind gust’s pressure or some internal noise the antenna get deviated from the reference point and thus their working get hindered. In this paper, an antenna position control system that controls the position of an antenna is considered and simulated using MATLAB/Simulink. The control strategy used in this paper for position control is Model Reference Adaptive Controller(MRAC) and Self tuning Controller(STC) as these controllers have the capability to adapt to the changing environmental conditions and minimize the deviation of the antenna from its reference position. The comparison between the two control techniques are done using simulation results and it is concluded that STC gives better results in terms of fast response and less oscillations than MRAC.
