Abstract

In this poetical composition No. 4 in Kulliyyat-e-Mazaq, the poet Shaykh Ahmad Hussain Mazaq has highlighted the significance of teacher / spiritual leader / murshid / مرشد / guide / trainer. A true teacher or spiritual leader helps a student or follower to remain on true path. The poet here has shown his misfortune that he could not have a teacher or guide to remain on right side.

This paper covers Urdu text, roman transliteration, English translation and commentary. The commentary is critical evaluation of the poets message to its readers.
