Abstract

The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has created a global crisis that has impacted the world not only in health perspectives but in most aspects of life. In many countries around the world, people have been asked to isolate themselves in their houses since the middle of February and beginning of March 2020. The Internet and social networks became the main communication channel that users used to look for and search information. In this research, our focus is in studying main contexts that people were concerned about among this global crisis. We collected a large dataset of people searched through Google Trends. Results showed a mixture of main contexts people were largely discussing related to the disease and its expansion, treatments, in addition to other subjects such as health or food supplies, politics and entertainment.
