Road Sign Detection Using Camera for Automated Driving Assistance System

Autonomous vehicle technology is quite an emerging field of artificial intelligence. Autonomous vehicle and automated driving assistance system (ADAS) has grown quite popular in recent times. Driverless cars still have a long way to go before it can be used in day to day life. In addition, People do not trust machines as they are not 100% reliable. Present situation is quite favorable for ADAS to grow and minimize the accidents. If driver is inattentive/ misses the road signs, voice suggestion could be very helpful for the driver. In the proposed work, road signs are captured & pre-processed to remove the noise so that better extraction of thesse road signs can be achieved. Then after, these patches are fed to optical character recognition (OCR) engine. Now, this extracted text can be narrated to the driver. Further, a mechanical prototype of proposed system is developed to test the mechanism.
