Abstract
This presentation is not only aimed at highlighting why there is a need for governments to take into consideration other factors which may not have been accorded adequate focus in deciding whether, how, or more importantly, when to prepare for a return to suspended economic activities. The need for a consideration of the lives and well being of citizens and peoples has been accorded ultimate priority – and rightly so. However, and on a more controversial note, what other factors also contribute to the well being of a nation and its peoples? How detrimental mentally, psychologically and socially will prolonged and extended government lock-downs impact the lives and economic engines of many societies? Why is it necessary to accord the manner and timing in which lockdowns and restrictions are lifted the same level of priority? These constitute some of the questions which this paper aims to address.
