Early emergence of suckers lead to reduced yield in plantain. Only after 6 months of growth that the side suckers to be permitted. Farmers adopt to physical smashing of suckers which are emerged early. In fact, this practice leads to further reduction in bunch weight since plant tries to rejuvenate the physically smashed suckers. This paper details how the early emerged suckers to be removed chemically and how the volume of application to be decided for each plantain.
