Abstract
French abstract: Depuis plusieurs années, de plus en plus d’embûches sont posées sur le parcours migratoire des étrangers qui souhaitent vivre en Belgique. Un des obstacles majeurs concerne les conditions liées au statut socio- économique et à la participation économique des migrants. Dans ce cadre, force est de constater que les couples mixtes et étrangers non UE qui souhaitent vivre ensemble de manière paisible et durable en Belgique sont particulièrement touchés par ces restrictions. Au travers des exemples du regroupement familial, du parcours d’inburgering flamand et de l’acquisition de la nationalité belge par déclaration, le présent article entend démontrer que la situation socio-économique précaire et/ou instable des migrants et de leur conjoint peut constituer un véritable obstacle légal dans leur parcours migratoire, en particu- lier au sein des couples mixtes et étrangers.
English abstract: For several years, migrants who have wanted to live on the Belgian territory have been facing more and more obstacles. The conditions linked to their socio-economic situation and their economic participation constitutes one of them. In this regard, mixed couples as well as non-EU couples who wish to live peace- fully and durably in Belgium are particularly hindered by these restrictions. Through examples of family reunification, the Flemish inburgering process and the acquisition of Belgian citizenship by declaration, the present article intends to show that the precarious or instable socio-economic situation of migrants and that of their partners is a legal barrier in their migratory journey, particularly for mixed and non-EU couples.
