Abstract

Robert Allen Zimmerman, born 25/5/1941, an American song writer, author, poet, visual artist and philosopher, was closely associated with the American Civil Rights Movement (between 1954 and 1968) and Anti-war movement against the United States involvement in Vietnam War and against the Cold War between USA and USSR. He first became known to the public with his first album 'Bob Dilan' (1961). The rest is history as Swedish Academy awarded him the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2016. The poem/song is perennial as well as universal regarding it's ‘protestant' nature against all socio-political-economic menaces. It addresses towards eradication of inequality and even distribution of resources; elimination of self-interest oriented and materialistic evil social norms guided by priestism/priesthood exclusively; elimination of illiteracy and thereby increment in the level of income; reduction in poverty; enhancement in self-sustainance; empowerment, gender equality, mass welfare and overall development of a state.
