Abstract

Capra and Mattei argue for a transformation of the legal order to a generative one that serves people, nature, and ecological communities. While the book persuasively argues for rethinking social relations and the possibilities offered by creative legal institutions, the reader may be left questioning whether offering the commons and eco-literacy as solutions to broad problems does not conflict with the apprehensions that a systems thinker would have when offering practical solutions to complex social issues. Nevertheless, the book will leave readers with a renewed sense of possibility of a different legal order, one in which the law can be used as a tool to serve the interests of people and nature.
