Abstract

Over the past decade an entire literature has sprung up around Hungarian politics, elucidating the means by which the country has slid into illiberalism. Less considered is why this has occurred. This paper utilizes the findings of Object Oriented Ontology to consider the ways in which the material fabric of Hungary and Hungarians, most notably in relationship to Trianon and Transylvania, has helped drive illiberalism forward.
