Abstract
This conference volume investigates the consequences of EU enlargement on structural economic policies in East and West, and in particular on the EU's economic policy coordination processes. Given the aspirations of the Lisbon agenda, most countries in either region face adjustment needs in the labor market and unresolved problems in terms of the sustainability of public finances. The continuation and acceleration of the structural reform process - interacting with growth and stability-oriented macroeconomic policies and exchange rate strategies - seems essential for the successful integration of all candidate countries into the EU economy.
