Abstract
I enclose the introduction and first four chapters of a larger project addressing the implications of Moore v. Dempsey, a 1923 Supreme Court decision once prominent that largely disappeared from view in the early 1960s. This progression, I think, rewards a close look and brings much — surprisingly much — into view. The introduction supplies more detail. This is preliminary work. Footnotes are sketchy (apologies to all) — suggestions and criticisms will be welcomed. I hope to post four additional chapters soon.
