Abstract
Integrating Information and Communication Technology or ICT into teaching and learning has become a great concern for many educators in developing countries like the Philippines. With its rapid development, educators should find ways to integrate technology in the learning process. ICT should not drive education, rather, educational goals and needs must drive its use in schools. This study aims to investigate the effect of using ICT in classroom Instruction to the Teaching Performance of ENSIMATH teachers in both public and private schools of Guiuan, Eastern Samar for the school year 2017-2018. Likewise, the researchers intend to know the level of ICT competence among ENSCIMATH teachers in both public and private schools. This study utilized a descriptive – correlation method to determine the relationship between the level of ICT competence and the teaching performance of the 65 ENSCIMATH teachers in Guiuan ,Eastern Samar. A survey questionnaire was used to gather data. Spearman’s rho was used to analyze and determine its significant relationship among variables.
The study revealed that majority of the teachers had been teaching for 1-5 years (53.84%) and majority of them has a Baccalureatte degree (64.6%). However, in regard to the teaching performance of ENSCIMATH teachers, 23 (35.4%) of them are outstanding; while, 40 (61.5%) are very satisfactory and 2(3.1%) are fair. It can be noted that majority of the ENSCIMATH teachers have rating of very satisfactory teaching performance. On the relationship between the demographic profile and level of ICT competence, it was found out to be not significantly related. Other variables on the demographic profile were found to be insignificant to the teaching performance of the ENSCIMATH teachers.
On the relationship between the ICT competence and teaching performance, it registers an extremely statistically significant with the p-value of 0.001.
