Abstract
One of the important activities of the Catholic Church in India is its educational ministry. The Catholic Church in India is one of the largest providers of education in all forms viz., primary, secondary and tertiary. Value based education is a focus of Catholic educational institutions. CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is the first Catholic university in India. CHRIST is run by the CMI congregation. It caters to around 23000 students in the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The core values of CHRIST are Faith in God, Moral Uprightness, Love of Fellow-beings, Social Responsibility and Pursuit of Excellence. This paper is an exploration of the transfer of the core value of the university to its students. It is found out that there is a perceivable difference between the undergraduate students who have studied in a CMI educational institution earlier and who have not studied in any CMI educational institution as far as acceptance of core values of Christ University are concerned.
