Abstract

This is the first of two articles. In this first article, the current Insolvency Service and Grant Thornton LLP-funded research project, which is being undertaken at the Centre for Insolvency Law & Policy (CILP) at Kingston University, will be discussed. In the second article a more specific response will be provided to Professor Jacob Ziegel's 2003 Oxford Society of Legal Scholars conference paper, which postulated that English insolvency academics have for too long neglected the serious study of the personal side of insolvency.
