Chromium as a Wettability and Electron Modifier in Pt/Ceo2 Catalyst for Lignocellulose Hydro-Liquefaction

Abstract
The wettability of catalysts plays a crucial role in optimizing the overall process and improving the efficiency of the biomass hydro-liquefaction reaction. Herein we demonstrate a practical approach to controlling the wettability of the catalyst through manipulation of its structural composition. Doping a certain amount of Cr, improves the wettability of the Pt/CeCrO2-x catalyst, enhancing the mass transfer efficiency of the gas-liquid-solid triphasic interface and significantly increasing the concentration of intermediates and active hydrogen around Pt. At the same time, the Cr also alters the physicochemical properties of CeCrO2-x support, including its acid-base properties, charge mobility, and electronic structure. Combined with these roles of Cr, the biomass achieved almost complete conversion with optimized selectivity compared to unmodified Pt/CeO2. Moreover, the catalyst demonstrates excellent reusability and stability. Understanding and controlling the diffusion processes are fundamental to maximizing the efficiency of heterogeneous catalytic reactions.
