Analysis on Thermal Stress of Optimized Functionally Graded Coatings During Thermal Shock Based on Finite Element Simulation

Abstract
The distribution state of thermal stresses inside the coating during static and dynamic thermal cycling is analyzed using finite element analysis. Based on the experimental results and the distribution state of thermal stress inside the coating, a mechanical analysis of the effect of three different coating structures on thermal shock performance is formed to investigate the mechanism of the impact of the coating structure on the thermal shock failure of the coating. The results show that using a buffer layer to reduce the maximum stress value in the coating system is an effective means of improving the thermal cycle life of the coating. It has a significant role in thermal shock resistance and stress reduction, especially the removal of crack-tip thermal stress.
