Abstract

Philanthropy is one way in which people find expression for their interests and passions. And when passion is brought together with strategic thinking and planning, philanthropy can touch lives, build bridges between people, and link personal experiences with wider needs and societal structures, helping to create a better world. This intertwining of personal passion with strategic thinking distinguishes the best and most powerful forms of philanthropy, and creates opportunities for sharing, learning and improving philanthropic practices. To get to the rationale of philanthropy, this paper looks into passion, strategy, and learning and sharing platforms.
