Abstract

This paper looks at the history of management science and practice in Bulgaria during the period of socialist central planning. The paper reviews the role of different institutions and their contribution to strategic decision making, and the management of supply and demand at macro level. The paper reviews the changed after 1989, that were implemented as part of the transition reforms, and the effect of the macro-economic decline on enterprise restructuring during this period.
