Abstract
Western Cabinets is a short in-class teaching case that challenges students to decide whether the firm's issues are strategy or strategy execution. The case offers diverse options for the instructor to analyze strategy such as Porter's low costs/differentiation model and value chain analysis. The case and teaching notes also offer the instructor an opportunity to explore the firm's strategy from a business model by analyzing the value logic of the firm. Instructors can operationalize the strategy execution discussion through Simons' Levers of Control framework or Kaplan and Norton's Balanced Scorecard.
