Abstract

The different republics that have emerged from the breakup of the Soviet Union have embarked on the adventure of self-government. There is a noticeable dearth of commentary concerning newly enacted laws. This article addresses key issues raised by one statute affecting business in one country. On 22 September 1995, the Republic of Moldova adopted a new trademark statute. This article examines that statute and offers comments, occasionally comparing provisions of the United States’ Lanham Act or American practice with those of the Moldovan Law.
